11 People arrested in a protest taking place in Palm Springs

There has been a protest for the last two days.  The protest action is against lack of service delivery

Members of the Community have looted from the shopping mall.

On 5 October the Palm Springs Community Association handed over the memorandum to Emfuleni Municipality Mayors office listing their demands.  The Mayor was given fourteen days to respond.  The community got angry when the Mayor's Office failed to respond.  This how people are being treated by election leaders.  They feel that the leaders are undermining the working class voters.

The protest action in Palm Springs has been suspended as of now until further notice.  The committee agreed to meet with Si and his team on Monday to thresh out the issues on the memorandum, but on Sunday again there is a meeting with residents on the same matter.  Si also agreed to again meet with the people after the Monday meeting together with our team.  Lastly we humbly request that you please inform Thetha of the suspension.

Comrades you were supposed to call a joint media statement.

Si Mofokeng is the Mayor of Emfuleni Municipaity.
